You should always bear in mind that even if they are virtual, your animals need space!
A square enclosure that consists of only 4 gates will soon be filled ... and your pets will come out to breathe ... So be sure of two things: that your enclosure is large enough for the number of animals in it and that the perimeter is closed. If there is a space between the fences then the animals can, and will flee, that's for sure. In cases of there being a hole in your fence, try to fill it with hay bales or hedges. Generally, this is enough to prevent your animals to roam everywhere. Other tip: use the famous option Pet freezing under the wrench tool. This way your pets will stay where you put them!
