Default What are the freight trains?

Q: What are the freight trains?

A: There are 5 Freight trains, shown above. They are used to bring you high demand products from outside markets to use in your facilities. They can also help you work your friends facilites faster.

Some trains and cars, in the store, are purely for decoration. Decorative ones do not bring you any products and do not help with working your friends facilites.

All Trains are in the *Trains/Ships* section of the Store.

Default How do i use the trains?

How do i use the trains?

First you must purchase the Standard Freight Locomotive from the trains section of the store. In order to buy a faster train, you must buy them in order. So to buy the Enhanced Freight Locomotive you must first own the Standard Freight Locomotive. To buy the Supreme Freight Locomotive you must own the Enhanced Freight Locomotive and so on.

Note: If you are not going to use the slower trains when you have purchased a faster one. Do NOT sell them. The game needs to see which trains you own in order for you to buy the faster trains or a second set.

- Standard Freight Locomotive visits all markets in 7 days

- Enhanced Freight Locomotive is a faster locomotive that visits all the markets in only 6 days.

- Supreme Freight Locomotive is faster again and visits all markets in 5 days.

- Ultimate Freight Locomotive visits all markets in 4 days.

- Turbo Freight Locomotive visits all markets in 3 days.

*** Note: You can now have 10 trains dispatched at any given time, two with Standard Locomotives, two with new Enhanced Locomotives, two with Supreme Freight Locomotives, two with Ultimate Freight Locomotives, and two with Turbo Freight Locomotives. ***

*** Note 2: For the second set of freight engines they must also be purchased in order.***

Then you must purchase one of the following train cars - Cost 35 Farmcash Each
  • Long Bulkhead Car
  • Long Cattle Car
  • Long Container Car
  • Long Gondola Car
  • Long Hopper Car
  • Long Lumber Car
  • Long One-Door Boxcar
  • Long Refrigerated Car
  • Long Sliding-Door Car
  • Long Tank Car
  • Long Two-Door Boxcar
  • Long Well Car
  • Long Quarry Car
  • Long Tree Products Car
  • Long Crops Car
  • Long Flowers Car
  • Long Logs Car
  • Long Fish Car
  • Long Animal Products Car

To prepare your train for dispatch you need to have at least one Long Freight Car coupled to the Freight Locomotive. Place the Long Freight Car right behind the Locomotive without any space between them. If you mouse over the Locomotive, All Freight Cars (including short and long cars) correctly coupled together will be highlighted. As image below shows.

To manage your train click the Locomotive and select 'Show Train Details'. The Long Freight Cars that are correctly coupled to your Locomotive will be highlighted in white. The ones that you don't own or that are not correctly coupled will appear disabled. Image below shows 6 correctly coupled freight cars, and 2 that aren't owned.

To dispatch your train click the 'Dispatch Train' button. Only the Freight Cars correctly coupled to your train will be dispatched to carry goods.

Once you dispatch a train it will be locked and will appear semi-transparent in your farm until it returns. The Standard Freight Locomotive completes the trip across all markets in 7 days.

There is now a preference option to disable the transparency of the trains. Goto the game preferences and uncheck 'Transparent Dispatched Train'

How do i collect produce delivered by the trains?

A: To check the progress of your train click on the 'Train Status' tab.

You'll see how many units are being carried and how many are pending to load. The progress bar indicates the progress of the train across all the markets.

As soon as the train visits all the markets and returns to your farm, you can click the 'Unload Train' button to move all products to your Storage. At this point your train will be fully visible again so you can add or remove cars for the next dispatch.

Another way to check how long until your trains are back and ready to be dispatched is to use the "Show Times" Tool in the Toolbox.

Click on the Tool and the click on the "Trains" tab. It will show you all your trains and which farms they are on.

If there is a green check mark, that train has returned home and is ready for you to unload it and dispatch it again.

If there is a time showing, that is how long until it returns home. If you hover over the time and the train can still be boosted, it will tell you that.

Default What does the Boost Train! button do?

What does the Boost Train! button do?

The boost button allows your neighbors to accelerate your train to help speed up it's delivery. First open up the train status tab. Then Click the Boost Train! button at the top left.

This works a little differently than the facilities requests in that you send out direct invites rather than wall posts. They will show up in the My Requests tab above the game.

The benefits for the train boost are as follows.

  • Each friend will advance your train 2 hours
  • The advance that your train receive in one trip from all your friends combined can not exceed a full 24 hour day which is 12 boosts.
  • The benefits that friends receive by advancing your train will be between 1% and 3% of all the products being carried by the train

Can i have more than 1 train or car?

Yes, you may have 2 of each train, making 10 trains in total. Note that you can't have 2 of the same engine on the same farm.

You may have 1 Long Boxcar of each type per train, if you purchase another of the same Long Boxcars, it will have to be coupled to the other train. Meaning, if you have 10 trains, you can have a total of 10 of each boxcar so long as they are on different trains. Any additional Long Boxcars would serve only as decorations and will not carry any products.

Default How does the train help with facility work?

How does the train help with facility work?

Dispatched Trains with Long Farm Cash cars attached to them help you with your friends facility work. How much of that work depends on how many trains you have with how many Farm Cash cars attached to them. They do need to be on a farm, not in storage and they do need to be dispatched.

Without the trains the Mayor will work 50% of your friends facilities for free, but you have to go to every farm and work every facility individually until the mayor takes over and does his 50%.

Each Long Car you have, on a dispatched train, the mayor will work another 5% of the facilities for you. Note: the Long Cars must be different ones. You can not have two of the same Long Car on the same train.

If you have 1 train dispatched with 10 Long Cars attached, the mayor will complete all the work on the farm you are on and you only have to go to each farm that has facilites on it.

If you have 2 trains dispatched with 10 Long train cars on each train the Mayor will complete all facilities on all farms for you without you needing to navigate to each farm.

Note: The coin train cars are decoration ONLY and do not help towards your neighbours facilty work.

Default How do i get my train to go round a corner?

How do i get my train to go round a corner?

You can get your train to go round a corner by using one of the cars that has 6 views, place that car ON the corner, and the long cars attached to either end, as the image shows below... You may have to experiment a little in placing the cars so as all the cars are on the tracks, but it can be done

Make sure ALL the cars highlight by mousing over the engine.

Note: There are 2 horizontal and 2 vertical decorative short cars, make sure you use the correct car depending on which way the train is turning, if one doesn't work, try the other one
