so... I went to the market and hired, just to see how much better it might be.

One farm of onions, 9x staggered crops fertilized... normal yield... 7,650

hired one worker to harvest and plow, my inventory increased by 14,254

One farm of wheat, 9x staggered crops fertilized... normal yield.... 8,266

hired same worker to harvest and plow, my inventory increased by.. 14, 446


hmm ...

not bad as long as the worker hired does not quit or does not say they have tools when they do not.
